Pelwatte Dairy Industries Limited is a Company incorporated in Sri Lanka under the Company’s Act No. 07 of 2007. Established in the year 2006, the total investment is over Rs 1.5 billion. The Company has the BOI status having registered with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka in terms of Section 17(2) of BOI Law No 4 of 1978, on 29th December, 2006. Also Pelwatte Dairy Industries Limited is the first project to receive approval under the Divisional Secretary Area based 300 industries program (Gamata Karmantha) of the Ministry of Industrial Development in Sri Lanka. The Company has the international standard ISO 22000: 2005, too.
Pelwatte Dairy is now in the process of setting up of its second Dairy Factory with an estimated investment of over USD 40 million, located in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. This Province has been identified as a dairy producing area which has not received the attention of the State Sector nor the private sector. The dairy industry in the area has a vast potential which could be tapped and developed for the benefit the local dairy industry and to uplift the socio-economic levels of the local dairy farmer community in the Province.
